Water Sports at Kielder

Sailing on Kielder WaterKielder water opened by the Queen in 1982 provides a huge inland sailing playground, at 7 miles long with some 44,000 million gallons of water and 27 miles of shore it is an under-used resource never overcrowded even in the height of Summer.There is a sailing club for dinghies ranging from Mirrors, through Ospreys to ISOs. A very active racing calendar and excellent training.Whickhope inlet is home to The Yacht Club with around 90 yachts and motor cruisers on swing moorings.An active Water ski club is based at Leaplish and a Water ski school at Little Whickhope.Kielder is a great inland water to explore, relax, and race on with challenging winds, stunning views and friendly folk to meet.
